Finance Papers

Our Finance Committee meeting is open to press and public. Please could any member of the public who wants to attend notify us via clerk@sandgate-pc.gov.uk in advance. This allows us to ensure we have sufficient seats and allow reasonable spacing.

We publish our financial reporting on the “in-running” budget monthly. So at this meeting we will consider the reports since the last meeting.

Previous Sandgate Parish Council Finance Committee Agendas, Minutes and Financial Reports.

We use (the excellent) Scribe Accounts to manage our Council accounts and generate reports.

Sandgate Parish Council’s finances are governed by our Financial Regulations and Standing Orders, and every Town and Parish Council has similar rules. Because those rules govern our financial management, we can only amend or vary them by a Council resolution.

The Council’s Standing Orders require quarterly reporting of receipts, payments and balances. For instance, they say at 17.c:

The Responsible Financial Officer shall supply to each councillor as soon as practicable after 30 June, 30 September and 31 December in each year a statement to summarise:

i. the council’s receipts and payments for each quarter;

ii. the council’s aggregate receipts and payments for the year to date;

iii. the balances held at the end of the quarter being reported

and which includes a comparison with the budget for the financial year and highlights any actual or potential overspends.

We’re now publishing our reports monthly, exceeding that requirement. Consequently we will consider the reports at the next Parish Council Resources Committee meeting.

My Community Voice and Kent Police

My Community Voice is a two way communication tool used by the Police to send out meeting notices, alerts and safety information.

Local PC Dan Mills uses this method to advertise his surgeries and wants to utilise it for promoting crime prevention advice this year. If residents sign up they can complete a quick survey which lets Dan know as the local officer their 3 main problems within the locality.

Members receive emails, and can reply directly to the Police via the platform. It is also entirely free, there is no advertising or sales, and clearly you can also leave at any time.

Welcome to Sandgate

Please drive carefully.

The road roundels and signage for the new Sandgate 20mph zone are being installed across the village.

The scheme was finally installed by Kent Highways following years of campaigning, a hugely positive response to a local informal consultation and the required formal consultation, TROs and consideration of responses.

One Day Parking Suspension: Thursday 22nd January 2026 from 8am – 5pm

KCC need to do gully and shingle works following Storm Goretti (mainly drain clearance) along The Esplanade. To ensure the access needed for some big machinery, parking will be suspended on the A259 Sandgate Esplanade between the junctions with Wilberforce Road & Spencer Court.

Road will be open, but please do not park on The Esplanade on Thursday so all drains can be fully cleaned, and any remaining shingle and run-off removed.
