Radnor Cliff Resurfacing Works

Radnor Cliff Resurfacing Works

Kent Highways have notified that there will be significant resurfacing work in Radnor Cliff starting in 10 days. This will be from the junction with Radnor Cliff Crescent down towards the Lower Sandgate Road car park and will consist of several large sections.

Kent Highways are planning on closing Radnor Cliff for resurfacing works on Monday 13th May 2019 for 5 working days, the timing of the works should be from 08:30 through to 16:30 approx so to keep peak time disruptions to a minimum. Unfortunately delays through Radnor Cliff will be experienced but when safe to do so access will be given.

Advanced signs will be placed on site and a full letter drop (in Radnor Cliff) will be completed soon detailing the work.

Sandgate Park Toilets

The Parish Council tries to maintain Sandgate Park to a high standard for the benefit of residents and visitors. Unfortunately there has been some very anti social behaviour recently involving the pushing over of the portable toilets, which were located for the busy summer period, fire damage to play equipment, and worse.

As a consequence it has been necessary to remove the portable toilets for the time being while a vandal free solution can be found. We urge residents to be vigilant and to report anything to the parish clerks as soon as possible including evidence as to perpetrators. Whilst we have no reason to suspect that this small group of people are dangerous we would not suggest direct confrontation.

May 2019 Food Bin

May 2019 Food Bin

Sandgate Parish Council are delighted to support the work of the Folkestone Rainbow Centre by hosting a Food Bin at Sandgate Library.

Any items that the Sandgate community collect will be received by the Rainbow Centre team at their warehouse prior to being sent out to their Distribution Centres, Foodstop and the Winter Shelter.

The Rainbow Centre say ” the increase in the number of people coming to the foodbank distribution centres has been far greater than expected. Since 1 January to 15 March, we redeemed 287 foodbank vouchers, which has fed 600 individuals (a dramatic increase from the same period in 2018 – 91 vouchers redeemed, 357 individuals fed).”

Help feed local people in crisis. Items we would especially appreciate this month are:

  • Long life milk
  • Coffee
  • Tinned Meat
  • Tinned Fish

Please ensure all food is well within date and unopened as we are not allowed to distribute out of date food. You can drop donations to the red food bin at Sandgate Library during library opening hours. Thank you!
