The fireworks display planned for Saturday 29th has been postponed. It will now NOT be taking place this weekend.
However, the Sandgate Sea and Food Festival itself remains on for the evening of Saturday 29th August and all day Sunday 30th August.
Due to the high winds forecast for Saturday 29th, we have had to postpone the fireworks display. The first consideration has to be safety. The predicted wind speeds for tomorrow evening have now risen above that at which the Fireworks Team is confident we could go ahead.
On Saturday 29th there will still be stalls on the seafront and in Castle Road car park and live music from the Castle Road stage and Roger De Haan Charitable Trust Granville Parade stage from 6pm-10pm.
Sunday 30th August from 10am onwards we have a fun day for all the family with live music, stalls and entertainment along Granville Parade & throughout Sandgate.
FREE parking in the Enbrook Park main car park courtesy of Saga from 5pm-11pm Saturday and 10am-6pm Sunday. Please respect the park, ONLY park in marked bays in the main car park, and do not leave litter.
There are loads of events in venues throughout Sandgate. Even if the weather isn’t “all that” all weekend, with music in venues including The Royal Norfolk Hotel, The Providence, Mimosa (both in house and seafront!), The Famous Ship Inn, Bar 96 & Sandgate Members Club in addition to the Castle Road and Granville Parade stages on both Saturday and Sunday) there’s loads to sing along too, and much more besides!
We think there are in excess of 25 DJ’s, singers and acts across nine venues in the village – let us know if you find them all! Eat, eat, drink, be merry and sign along!
Road and Car Park Closures
Granville Parade and the roads leading to it will be CLOSED to through traffic and parking from noon on Saturday 29th August until 6pm on Sunday 30th August. Castle Road Car Park is also closed from noon on Saturday 29th August until 6pm on Sunday 30th. Cars left parked in those areas after noon on Saturday may be booked.
There is FREE PARKING in the Saga main car park in Enbrook Park over the weekend. You can park there all weekend but access will be CLOSED from 11pm Saturday until 8am Sunday. You can leave your car there if you don’t want to get it out in those hours!
